Ty + Spencer’s Mt. Rainier wedding at an Airbnb in Packwood, WA was so so special. We hit up Grove of the Patriarchs, Pinnacle Saddle Trail, & more!
Ty & Spencer’s story
These two are so near and dear to my heart, I had to write a blog post to tell not only the story of their wedding but their story.
Tyana & Spencer were planning to get married last July, but they couldn’t wait any longer once the pandemic started (like many couples). They were ready to tie the knot, so they got married two weeks into the first lockdown, on their front porch. Still planning on having some sort of microwedding in July, they celebrated with their closest loved ones at their home and had the most special time together!
Just a few weeks after, Ty’s dad passed away unexpectedly, devastating all of us. I am so beyond happy that they got to celebrate with him and that they decided to get married sooner than planned – the universe must have told them what they needed to do.
Their stunning Mt. Rainier wedding
Ty & Spence ended up still going through with their July wedding, but turned it into a private elopement in the mountains that I was so honored to be a part of.
We started the day at the cozy cabin in Packwood that they stayed at, which I’ll talk about a little more below. Then we explored two of my favorite spots in Mount Rainier National Park, the Grove of the Patriarchs loop and Pinnacle Saddle Trail.
Ty added a personal touch to her flower bouquet (created by Petals By Piper) by tying a pendant on the stems, which had a beautiful photo of her and her dad at their front porch wedding. I loved that special touch she added to allow her dad to be with them on their elopement day! She also included his ring in some of their detail photos at the start of the day.
We got the most stunning sunset for their Mt. Rainier wedding. The type of glowing sunset you don’t often get at Rainier with the PNW’s famous cloudy skies. The sky glowed orange and created the most beautiful soft light on Ty & Spence – Ty kept saying that her dad painted the sunset for them (making us all bawl on the spot).
The cozy Packwood, WA Airbnb cabin
Ty & Spence started their day off by getting ready at the cutest cabin in Packwood, so I wanted to link the cabin here for anybody looking for a place to stay in Packwood!
The Cozy River Cabin can sleep 6 guests and includes 1 bedroom, 3 beds, & 1 bathroom. It’s a super cute a-frame cabin in the woods and is perfect for anyone looking for a dreamy woodsy stay near Rainier!
Hike for Don
After her dad passed, Ty created a fundraiser to raise mental health awareness in his honor, called Hike for Don. Don absolutely loved hiking and being outdoors. So every year, members of this organization (including me) go on a hike in his name to honor his memory. You can purchase merch to contribute to the organization here. They have awesome sweatshirts and outdoor gear that Don would have loved!
Tyana also participates in 46 Climbs for Suicide Prevention to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) – you can donate to her fundraiser here.
On her fundraising page for AFSP, Ty puts it in her own words –
“I hike for my dad, Don. He was loved by all, had boundless energy and enthusiasm, with an infectious laugh, and was quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
#HikeForDon is about creating a safe space to start the conversation about mental health. About moving our bodies in a positive way in nature. About finding light in the darkness.
We will carry on Don’s legacy of genuine kindness and love for the outdoors one step at a time. Please share photos with #HikeForDon to continue to spread awareness and promote community.”
