I recently worked with two of my favorite Olympia wedding vendors to plan a styled elopement at Ruby Beach. The shoot turned out even more amazing than I could have imagined because Talon + Payton ended up modeling and getting anniversary pictures!
The Ruby Beach elopement-styled photoshoot
The couple
This was a styled photoshoot I organized with a couple of my favorite Olympia vendors. That means that we planned a photoshoot to resemble an elopement to get creative & photograph new content, but it wouldn’t be a real elopement. We needed to find a couple to model for us.
I met Talon and Payton in 2017 when I photographed their engagement session. I was supposed to photograph their wedding, but they ended up canceling their big wedding & doing a ceremony just the two of them and their pastor.
So when I was planning this styled shoot with Weddings With Joy, I knew Talon and Payton would be the perfect couple for it. They’re sweethearts and I’d already worked with them in the past, and this shoot would give them the wedding photos they never got from their last-minute elopement.
The photoshoot
When the photoshoot day came, it was a classic cold, gray PNW day. But these two were such troopers. We explored Ruby Beach together, one of my favorite Washington coast beaches, and got to enjoy the moodiest PNW vibes we could’ve asked for.
The outfits
Payton wore a super beautiful long-sleeve, lace patterned dress from Weddings With Joy that really made the whole shoot come together. And next to her, Talon wore a classic white button-up with burnt orange/brown pants that perfectly fit the earthy PNW vibes we were going for.
You can truly make such a beautiful elopement simply out of a couple of kickass outfits and a simple bouquet – and this is proof of that! Capital Blooms put together the most beautiful earthy bouquet for us to use, which featured orange roses, green leaves, and an overall warm-toned color palette. The warm color scheme looked vibrant against the moody grays, blacks, & browns of the beach and went great with Talon’s pants!
And fun fact – we actually planned this shoot in just two weeks. Probably the fastest I’ve ever planned a shoot like this! But that just goes to show that I’m convinced most couples could plan a special, intimate elopement day in that short of a time period. All you’ve gotta do is have a little flexibility and creativity, and you can absolutely make it happen!
Love loved working with these two again and getting to give them these anniversary photos. So thankful to work with the most wonderful couples!
